About Us here at Siampen Cockers
Hello and welcome to Siampen
Here is a little bit of info on us.
We are a small, house based kennel in the Brecon Beacons that breed Cocker Spaniels.
My husband and I have 3 beautiful children, Tomos who is 5 years old and Aurora who is 2years old and Teddy who is 1year old. Of course we also our dogs are our 4 legged babies. Our dogs mostly live in the house with us and come to work with me every day at my grooming parlour. We are very lucky that my family live on 20 acres of private land so we get to walk the dogs off lead and to take them for a swim in the river, without the worrying about other walkers etc.
We breed pedigree KC registered Cocker Spaniel puppies.
Cockapoo puppies though not a Kennel club regardless of the health of the parents and pups alike. We strive to ensure that we are nbreeders.
We believe firmly in health testing to ensure that the puppies that leave us are as healthy as can be, to this end our own Girls are only from parentage where at least one parent is PRA and FN clear, so our girls are at the very least carriers, (please look at our Health page for more details). The girls DNA testing results will be with us shortly to confirm either way if they are clear or carriers but they are definitely not Affected with either of these horrid diseases. The Stud dogs we use are ALWAYS PRA and FN clear, either through DNA testing or Genetically, so no puppy we produce will ever be affected by either PRA or FN.
Our new Boy Jac is both PRA and FN clear which we are really excited about. He
should be active as a stud dog in the autumn of 2013.
I have been involved in dog breeding for around 20 years. My parents own a Newfoundland Stud- The Inkomo Stud, where they breed and Show Newfoundland's. I work for them as a dog groomer and I also handle in the show ring for them. My husband and I have previously owned Dalmatians but with a young family we decided to stick to the smaller breed of Cocker Spaniels.
Siampen is Welsh for the word Champagne. I was once told that Cockers were 'controllably fizzy' so we thought Siampen suited us perfectly.
We have recently had to rehome a few of our Cockers due to 'Chicken Gate'. sadly Jac and Bourbon could no longer stay with us after they repeatedly got in with and killed my mums chickens. Obviously this is a genetic behaviour with Cockers that are 'Game' dogs so please consider this if you are after a Cocker puppy.
